🇹🇷 Turkey → 🇪🇺 EU
Customs Union

Turkey–EU Customs Union — Industrial Goods

The Turkey–EU Customs Union (1996) covers industrial goods. Agricultural products are excluded. Most manufactured goods move at 0% duty under the CU — no EUR.1 needed for CU origin goods; the A.TR movement certificate is used for transit proof.

📄
A.TR Movement Certificate → Proof of customs union origin for Turkish goods in transit
🧾
EUR.1 Movement Certificate → Preferential origin proof for preferential trade agreements
How it works: Industrial goods of Turkish origin entering the EU are classified under CU origin — 0% customs duty. The A.TR certifies CU origin. For goods going to EFTA states or countries with bilateral FTAs, an EUR.1 may apply. Routiply identifies the correct certificate based on destination and HS code.
🇹🇷 Turkey → 🌐 GCC / GAFTA / MENA
MFN + FTA Rates

Turkey–GCC/MENA Trade Lanes

Turkey has an expanding FTA network across the MENA region. Key lanes: Morocco FTA (signed 2004), Tunisia FTA (signed 2004), Egypt FTA (signed 2005), Algeria trade framework, GAFTA (14 Arab states), and Belt & Road Initiative alignment with China.

Rate typeAverageNotes
EU CU (industrial goods) 0% No duty for CU-origin industrial goods
Turkey-Morocco FTA 0–5% Preferential rates on broad product range
Turkey-Tunisia FTA 0–5% Similar scope to Morocco FTA
Turkey-Egypt FTA 0–5% Signed 2005 — in force
GAFTA (Arab states) 0–3% Arab League FTA — 14 member states
⚠️ Use the correct HS digits: Turkey uses GTİP 12-digit (TAREKS system). Mapping from EU CN 8-digit or US HTS 10-digit can misclassify your product and trigger additional duties at the border.

Every shipment needs these. Missing one means a hold.

12-digit GTİP — the TAREKS system.

Turkey uses the GTİP (Gümrük Tarife İstatistik Pozisyonu) — a 12-digit classification extending the international HS-6 code. The TAREKS system (ticaret.gov.tr) manages the official tariff database. The first 6 digits mirror the WCO HS system; digits 7–12 are Turkey's national extensions defining duty rates, anti-dumping measures, and quota categories.

⚠️ GTİP classification risk: Using EU CN codes (8-digit) or US HTS codes (10-digit) without the correct 12-digit GTİP extension will misclassify your product, miscalculate KDV and customs duties, and may trigger anti-dumping duties at the border. Always verify with the official TAREKS portal.
